Dad, dad, dad. This is what my son says when he want to get my attention.
Kids have the best timing when they want to share something. It is normally when you are having a conversation, focused on doing something important or headed into the other room or out the door.
It is difficult to stop what you are doing, but incredibly important.
It's when we listen that we get that opportunity to see the world through a child's eye. It brings us back to when we were little and everything was easy and fun. You didn't have to overthink it, manage it or deal with it...you just had to enjoy it.
It's important that kids share openly what's on their mind...highs and lows, dreams and fears, what makes them happy and what makes them sad. It is even more important that we listen and don't judge. That's the hard part, especially for guys, we always want to fix it. Sometimes we just need to listen.
